Exciting work with another top fashion designer Jun Escario. He flew in Ria Bolivar (Supa model from Manila) for this shoot. She is just awesome and easy to work with. Our location was right at the shop of Jun Escario in Cebu. The sofa we used…an “1890 Victorian English Sofa”…YES 1890! Accessories by Vero.

Warriors In The City

This is the reason why I go to the Dinagyang festival almost every year. This year, I was able to photograph some of the warriors. For the techy one’s who want to know my setup…Here it is, Canon 1Ds Mk3, 50 1.4mm with Fader ND (variable ND filter) and Paul C. Buff Einstein E640 with the 8.5 High Output Reflector powered by the Vagabond Mini. 1/250th + 1.4 to 2.0. Images were shot at around 2pm on a full hot day with some cloud formations but was generally sunny.

Imag Photography Magazine Cover and Feature

Just incase you missed or unable to grab the copy of Imag Photography Magazine Volume 33. For the cover, I shot Jessica Ouano, a cosplayer based in Cebu with her costume as Baby Doll of the movie Sucker Punch. This was taken in my studio and composited the background. The background consist of photos I took during my trips. For the main bg, i shot this on my way to Tagaytay in Luzon, I passed by a sugarcane field that was burned down. It got my attention coz it was the only thing i passed that was black, white and grey. (Not a very common sight when you’re in a tropical country.) I oftentimes twitt my setups during a shoot so if u wanna follow the things i do, follow me @jangonzales on twitter.

Iya Villania for Zee Lifestyle Magazine

Shoot for Iya Villania, a celebrity here in the Philippines for Zee Lifestyle Magazine. Plan was me to have a 4 hour session with her which it remained to be just a plan. In reality, I only had an hour and a half of shooting after some delays in hair and makeup. That is kinda tough when you have to do a 6 layout for an 8 page and a cover for a Mag.

Location: Salon De Ning in The Manila Peninsula.

Gears used: Canon 1Ds Mk3 tethered to an iPad, 24-70L 2.8, 24L 1.4 and 85L 1.2 Lenses, 2-5 PCB Einstein 640′s, Pocketwizards, Cybersyncs and Cybercommander in repeater mode, Manfrotto 190 ProXB tripod, PCB 22″ Beauty Dish, 65″ PCB Parabolic, PCB Strip box gridded and the 7″ reflectors with grids.

DGL GTR Dekonstrukt

DGL Lighting Schematic. Shot with a Canon 1Ds Mk 3 on a 24 1.4 at 1/10, F11. Dragged the shutter to single capture both ambient and brake lights. Hand held (Not breathing. 4 lights were used. 3 lights with grids to control spill and bdish for the rear.

Iron Chef Dekonstrukt

Lighting setup diagram for the Iron Chef.
Model was exposed at 1/250 and fire was exposed at about 1/20 with most ambient lights off then merged. Result…broth of Johann OVERCOOKED.
